Where love knows no boundaries, ‘The Heart’ welcomes all, providing a sacred space for every unique love story to bloom.

Boswell Historical Society (BHS) acquired and repurposed the now deconsecrated building of worship into a warm, welcoming gathering place. With support from Columbia Basin Trust, grants, donations, and fundraising, the BHS purchased St. Anselm’s Church from the Anglican Diocese of the Kootenay in October 2022 and renamed it ‘The Heart - a gathering place’. Built in 1963, the building boasts furnishings from an earlier era. BHS honored the original while updating the interior with community help.

The Boswell Historical Society manages the Community Cupboard at The Heart, built by members in 2023 with funds from a Gleaner’s Disbursement Grant and donations in memory of the late Kay Epp. The Society organizes winter food deliveries and weekly summer produce tables. In December, they helped distribute 57 Christmas hampers in partnership with Creston Valley Community Services and Destiny Bay Grocers. The Society also supports community groups like the Compassionate Cafe and Heart to Heart Singers, and hosts events at The Heart, including music performances, book launches, and meetings. A second Gleaner’s Grant will fund upcoming renovations to enhance The Heart’s meeting and museum space.
